(X-posted; ignore this if you've already read it.)

Oops. I have not updated in a while, probably subconsciously on purpose to avoid having to write about HP:PoA. Heh heh. So, um, I will recap the past two days I suppose.

Friday: As the skirts did not come in until after the fact, I was a grey-trousered Gryffindor student. But no worries, since I got quite a few compliments anyway. It's amazing how many teachers like Harry Potter... my maths teacher noticed my sweater and asked if I was all ready for the movie and proceeded to talk about how excited she is for the next book... etc. Good times. After school, Nic and I went to the theatre (after a small hitch involving the fact that my father had told us the wrong one) and we all sat down and waited for the movie to begin...and then it did...and we watched it...and it was over.

Oh yeah, and we learned that there HAD, in fact, been a midnight show. Gee, thanks for not telling us that when we were buying our tickets ahead of time!

Now on to the PoA rambling.

Okay, well, as a person who has pretty much memorised all the details of the Harry Potter series, I could not help but be disappointed with the movie in quite a few ways. So many things were cut out and mixed up and messed around with that it did annoy me. Plus, the timeline was just... not there. There was not a good sense of when anything was happening at all; it could've been all in one week for all I could tell. By cutting out their exams, which is when Professor Trelawney is supposed to make her prediction, that little marker of time was left out. It's kind of amusing that the timing was so odd since Cuarón made it a point in all other aspects to focus on time quite a bit, what with the clockwork and swinging pendulum and all.

I hated how so much was cut out of the part in the Shrieking Shack. There was supposed to be MUCH more explained to Harry and Co... the whole Marauders thing was never fully explained either. And Sirius seemed a tad more psychotic than I'd imagined, although that wasn't horrible. Lupin was better than I'd expected him to be, although I still say to do away with the Hitler mustache! But Peter Pettigrew was HORRIBLE. Okay, he's supposed to look like a man whose lost a great deal of weight suddenly, with a long pointy nose, and watery eyes. NOT a porky nibbler who thinks he's the rabbit from Monty Python! NO! That was way too childish for my taste. And hey, WHAT IS WITH THE FILM TAKING THINGS SO LITERALLY?! You are supposed to feel cold INSIDE when the Dementors are around, and yet they just HAD to make everything freeze and turn to ice. And WOW! I did not know that my soul resembled a small shiny glass marble! And flying Dementors at the Quidditch match?! No Malfoy/Crabbe/Goyle fake-Dementor episode, causing Harry to produce a beautiful Patronus to charge them down?! NO QUIDDITCH CUP?! *sigh*

Well. Having said that, I must make it clear that I did like the movie, actually. But I hated a lot of the changes. I think Cuarón has livened up the film quite a bit, and it's a pity that he's not doing GoF (although he'd probably chop it down to nothing anyway). So, mixed feelings on the whole... oi, I guess I can get rather worked up over Harry, eh? And I haven't said the half of it. Ah well.

Oh, and what was with the Jamaican shrunken head?! The Knight Bus was great otherwise (PERFECT Stan Shunpike), but... whaaat?!

Yes, so, after the movie, the mother, sister, and I went to the Mill Store to buy 2 unfinished bookshelves and 4 shelves for my room, then to Pier 1 to get a shower gift for my Uncle Chris and soon-to-be Aunt Amy... came home and, er, dunno. Slept, I suppose.

Saturday: Woke up at the crack of dawn (or, not) and headed to Vets for my SAT IIs... finally managed to switch from SAT I to 2 SAT IIs (writing and literature), took them, and am now tentatively done with all SAT-related things ever, hahah! Came home and jumped into the convertible (O how I love eating a veggie burger with the top down whilst my father is driving down the highway!) to head to Middletown with the family (sans Ian) to watch Rhiannon's soccer game, in which they lost spectacularly. Came home and fell asleep on my bed for a few hours until Jessie called, so I was forced to wake up. After Mum and Dad had left for the shower, I had to pick Nin up at Leah's house at 8, came home, showered, and went to Mettie's for the remainder of the night (and even though I was home later than expected, my mother did not get back until 1 anyway! The father was the Designated Drive for the couple-to-be and thusly did not return until 2:15, at which time I was asleep).

So, er, yes, that was my EXCITING!WEEKEND. *nodnod*
