Mind the gap.

06 September 2004

For future reference, I shall now write down my first impressions of my senior classes...

Per. 1 - English IV AP H => I love this class already! Mr. Carlson seems to be a really good teacher. He's very organised, which is always a plus. I'm looking forward to it since I think it might be more challenging than many of my other English classes have been. If nothing else, the class will be funny... in more ways than one.

Per. 2 - Human Geography AP H => Ms. SanGiovanni seems to be pretty enthusiastic about this class, and I love that we're the first class in the entire state to take this AP course. I don't know if her enthusiasm will last for the entire year, but the subject matter really interests me so I think I'll enjoy it.

Per. 3 - My Per. 3 class today consisted of going to Guidance, being told to sign a book with my name and grade, and sitting around waiting for them to get to me, even though I filled out a slip three days ago. I had to go to the Senior Assembly midway through the period. I'm really impressed with Mr. Mullen as principal. He's more down to Earth than our previous principals, probably due to having been a teacher here until this summer. I really respected him as a teacher, and I think he's going to be a good, firm, principal. Plus, he's the first to actually give senior priviliges. Heh.

Per. 4 - Health => I've never had Mr. Kennedy before... but it's health. An easy class, and there's not much to say about it. I only have it for a quarter, and then it's gym until the end of the year. I may switch my gym period to Per. 3, and take Revolution & Rebellion first semester so I can be in Kim's class... Mr. Carlson teaches that too, so, that would be fun. If so, I'll see what second semester classes look interesting. We'll see if Guidance ever gets to me and if I ever get to meet my elusive new Guidance Counselor, Mr. Clark.

Per. 5 - Biology II AP H => Well, Mr. Miller is the same as he's always been... a bit flustered but very eager to teach. We had it long, so we did this little practise-lab with termites and lines drawn on paper, just as a warm-up. The class is really great because there's only 8 of us in it, so we can focus on the information and not the social aspect of it.

Per. 6 - Spanish V AP H => This is definitely going to be my most challenging Spanish class ever, and probably the most challenging class of this year. I'm rusty at my spoken Spanish, but I was glad to find that I can completely understand Srta. Pina even when she speaks very rapidly. We're going to be doing a lot of work, but I'm really excited to actually get to learn Spanish seriously. There are only 9 people in this class, and Srta. Pina seems very nice and willing to help, so I think I'm definitely going to enjoy the atmosphere of the class... everybody who's here actually wants to be here, since taking a language isn't required for senior year.

Per. 7 - Computer Sciences AP H => Mrs. Rovane is teaching this, and it's really quite intriguing! We're going to be learning Java, so I think it'll definitely be one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken. I'll be interested to see how I do with it... it's replacing an evil Calculus or Prob/Stats class, so I have NO MATHS except this one, which really isn't very mathematical. Huzzah.

SO THAT'S IT. Only a bit of homework for Carlson's class, and it's just filling out a sheet of info about myself. I have Bio work due sometime later next week... plus NEITHER MY BIO NOR MY HUMAN GEOGGERS SUMMER WORK WAS COLLECTED, GOD DAMN IT! *cough*

I really do think that this will be a good school year, despite the fact that I'm not in many classes with people I'm used to being with all day, such as Julie and Mel and Jamie. But it'll be interesting nonetheless.
