mind the gap

Mind the gap.

24 May 2004

I couldn't really come up with a good HTML name for this page, so I typed some random letters and came up with 'Skowenflad', which sounds like a real word to me... myabe in German or Russian or... something. Heh.

I started my 15-page paper today. So far, I have a 1/2 page introduction with a really weak 'thesis', if you can call it that. I'm not sure what I'm trying to prove, really. I kind of stole Nicole's topic about how WWII influenced Hollywood, and I'm going to focus on films used for propaganda, political messages, morale boosting, and general education about the war. Not entirely sure where a thesis fits into all that... any thoughts?

As Prisoner of Azkaban approacheth, I begin to feel more excited. Or, to be more accurate, 'Apprehensive, but excited', as Mugglenet so aptly put it. It's just... I love PoA and Sirius so much. I want the film to live up to the book, but based on the first two, I just can't quite throw myself into it and get all excited because I don't quite trust the HP movies! JK's bits of humour and her little witticisms just get lost in it all, and that's part of what makes me sad. :-

But, I shall enjoy the film. Really and truly I shall.

SKOWENFLAD. Care to give a meaning to the word?

PS - CHEMISTRY COMPETITION TOMORROW! YEE-HAW! ...bloody hell, I have to put my Chem shirt in the wash...
